Connect Step

Whether you are a new Christian or an established believer who is new to town, or coming from another church, we are glad you are here. Connecting with a local church is vital to our spiritual growth. We have crafted a path for you to seamlessly connect with our different ministries and activities tailored to your needs, so that you can connect with God and with His church. If you are new to the faith we have ways for you to get grounded in the basics. If you are an established believer looking for a church at which to serve, we have various avenues for you to get involved, both in serving and being served. We are thrilled God brought you here!

What is the Connect Step?

The Connect Step is how people new to the faith or new to our church connect to the life of our church.

In John 15:5 Jesus said this, “I am the vine, you are the branches.” Jesus received His spiritual nourishment directly from the Father during His earthly ministry, and now we receive that same nourishment through Christ. When we are connected to Christ, as a branch is to a vine, we have what we need to thrive spiritually.

This is the goal of the Connect Step, to connect people to the vine of Christ. How does one connect to Christ? Christians connect to Christ through the spiritual disciplines like prayer and reading the Bible, as well as being connected to a local church. From these sources we receive nourishment that can allow growth.

A new believer needs help knowing what to do and how to do it to connect to the vine. That is why this step is designed to help you learn and utilize the basics of the spiritual disciplines and how to be involved in the church.

Someone who is a mature believer who has moved to the area or is coming from a different church may already know about the spiritual disciplines, but may not know the in’s and out’s of our church, and so although they have the one connection, they need help connecting through our church.

How does the Connect Step Work?

For those needing help with the spiritual disciplines we have a number of different avenues for you understand and begin using these gifts. Our Sunday morning service, Sunday school classes, Life Groups, and Ministries all have ways to help in this regard. Plugging in to these will help you connect to God through the spiritual disciplines.

For both new believers and believers new to our church, we also have ways to connect to the life of our church. We periodically hold classes orienting you to our church, what we do, how we do it, and how to get involved.

Our pastor and elders are also available to help guide you. New believers and new guests are very valuable to God and we want to welcome you and help you transition as easily as possible.

How do I start the Connect Step?

To know where to start you may contact the church at 830-569-4167 or , or speak with the Welcome Desk in the main foyer by the sanctuary on a Sunday and we will direct you.

What is the next step?

Once you have your bearings with the spiritual disciplines and how you can get involved with our church to serve and to be served, then your focus turns to growing in maturity as a disciple, what we call the Grow Step, which you can learn more about here.

You are not alone

We are a family, adopted by God, and we are thankful God has brought you here. We look forward to getting to know you and helping you connect to God and His people. We are here for you and will assist in any way we can.

We also want you to experience this journey with others and so we encourage everyone to invite people to come along and join them. For someone in the Connect Step we would love for you to invite other people to Connect and to Explore our church. Bring new believers with you and we can connect together. Bring people exploring the faith and hopefully they will one day connect as well. And just to be clear, we are not in the business of taking people from other churches. But if the Lord leads, we welcome Christians in need of a church home. Invite away!

Thank you

Thank you for visiting us. We hope to see you soon. May God bless you.
