Welcome!

Life is a journey and the path of spiritual discovery is perhaps the most important part of one’s journey. If you are seeking God, then you have come to the right place. We believe in God’s promise that those who seek Him will find Him and we believe that you will find Him here. Exploring spirituality can be daunting for some. We recognize this and have crafted a safe path for you to explore who God is and how you relate to Him. You deserve to travel this path at the pace you desire and to do so with our encouragement and support. We are thrilled you are here!

What is the Explore Step?

The Explore Step explores Christianity. And at the core of Christianity is Jesus’ invitation for you to become His disciple.

A disciple is like an apprentice, but instead of imitating and learning one specific skill, such as carpentry or plumbing as an apprentice would, a disciple imitates the master’s entire life.

We believe Jesus lived a righteous life, that He solved the world’s core problem, that He has conquered death and offers eternal and abundant life to everyone, and that He will return to reign as king on earth as He does in heaven. Will you be His disciple?

The Explore step is for you to discover Jesus’ message and His invitation to you and decide whether you want to accept. A great way to discover is by asking questions, and we encourage you to do so! Some of the early questions include: Who is God? What does the Bible say? Why is the cross and Jesus’ resurrection from the dead so important? Who are these Christians? Why do they go to church?

As your search deepens you might want to ask those questions that you know you’re not supposed to ask at church because it makes pious people uncomfortable. Well, at CBC we welcome those questions. We believe that if you are going to commit your life to this, then you deserve the truth, and if God exists, then He can handle any question.

You will benefit from a supportive environment, so, we have crafted our church to be accommodating, welcoming, and helpful to you as we assist you on your journey.

How does the Explore Step Work?

The Explore Step is about you and your needs. Everyone’s faith journey is different and has its own unique twists and turns. Thus, you direct this step by deciding what pace you want to go, which questions you want to ask, and which avenues you want to explore.

Our church is wide open to you. You may come and participate with any of our activities. We are an open book. But, there are certain activities that we have crafted specifically with you in mind.

Periodically the pastor and his wife hold a class for people with questions, where they help you explore the answers for yourselves rather than give their generic answer. We also have classes explaining the basics of our church, who we are, what we do, and how you can get involved.

You also have access to speak to the pastor or one of the elders. Some may be intimidated by this option, and we understand the hesitation some feel. We do not mean this as forward or overwhelming. We simply value people exploring the faith and we want you to have access all the way to the top. So, if you would be comfortable speaking one on one with the pastor or one of the elders we can arrange that for you.

How do I start the Explore Step?

To know where to start you may contact the church at 830-569-4167 or , or speak with the Welcome Desk in the main foyer by the sanctuary on a Sunday and we will direct you.

What is the next step?

The explore step can be ongoing and for some may take a long time, but for most it will bring you to a place where you either decide that Christianity is not for you, which is fine, or that you are ready to become a disciple of Jesus. If you make this decision to become a Christian then you enter the Connect Step which you can read more about here, and then after getting connected you will focus on growing in the Grow Step, which you can learn more about here.

You are not alone

We want your journey to be a positive one and for most people having company along a journey is advantageous and enjoyable. For those that want company on their journey our people here at CBC are here to walk with you.

But, we also know that it is nice to walk with people who are like you, and so we hope that you invite others to join you who are also in the same Step as you. You can explore together with your friends as you travel this journey together.

Thank you

Thank you for visiting us. We hope to see you soon. May God bless you.
